Sami Khedira has been rumoured to be an Arsenal target for the past two windows and whilst not your typical defensive midfielder he would offer us everything Arteta does but with younger legs and a tad more ability. He is Mesut Özil's partner in crime for Germany and the ideal person to offer Mesut the stability behind him to best perform his role in the middle.

With his contract running out in 6 months and Sami able to sign a pre-contract with a hefty signing on fee he may well want to see out the rest of the season at Real however Real will be loathe to lose him on a free transfer if he refuses to sign a new deal and may do whatever they can to see some remuneration from his departure. Rumours of an £18m fee will probably put off most suitors able to offer a sizeable signing on fee of approximately 30% of that and see him join in the summer however as the month goes on Real may become more desperate if he is still available for transfer so that price could drop rapidly.
