Done Deal? Gabriel Paulista Transfer Confirmed By Villarreal

It looks as though Arsene Wenger has got his man and secured the services of Gabriel Paulista from Villarreal. Arsenal have been in need of a centre-back for a few windows now so the manager and the fans will be relieved to have found one.

The move is yet to be confirmed by Arsenal and it is not clear what the work permit situation is at present but the official Villarreal Twitter account posted a goodbye message to Gabriel on their timeline today confirming his transfer in principe to Arsenal.

Gabriel bade farewell to the Villarreal fans tonight just before kick-off of their home match against Levante in La Liga and is now set to head for London for a medical and work permit application.

Villarreal have also confirmed the loan signing of Joel Campbell for the rest of the season whose agent claimed he was signing an extension with Arsenal before heading to Spain.

Should everything go accordingly Gabriel could feature in Arsenal's squad to face Aston Villa on the 1st of February or alternatively his first game for Arsenal could be against Tottenham at White Hart Lane. A North London Derby would be some way to announce your arrival!
