Arsenal Families Screwed By The BBC
Arsenal fans are in uproar as their FA Cup quarter final against Manchester United at Old Trafford has bene confirmed for a MONDAY night.
TV companies still haven't got to grips with how best to showcase their alloted fixtures with minimal disruption and inconvenience to paying football supporters. In a move of breathtaking stupidity BBC has decided to broadcast Aston Villa vs West Brom at 5.30pm on a Saturday and Manchester United vs Arsenal at 7.45pm on a Monday.
Friday and Monday fixtures are already a horrendous display of the commercialisation of the world's oldest cup competition without pricing out fans and forcing others to discount themselves from attending with their families.
West Brom fans, even those with children, could easily have made the short trip to Villa Park on a Monday night with little impact on their daily lives. Due to inconsiderate TV company choices Arsenal are forced to play at Old Trafford at 7.45pm forcing many fans to fork out extra to stay in Manchester or face a 3hr journey from Manchester to London Victoria. Most won't arrive home before 1am and many will face getting up for work just 5 hours later.
Arsenal supporters with children will be unable to attend as the 400 mile return journey will take up to 7 hours total. Hard-working supporters will be forced to negotiate time off from work to leave at 3pm to make the stadium in time and may have to use up valuable holiday allowances to take time off the next day depending on travel arrangements.
Those who are self-employed face the worse option of having to choose between their ability to function and earn money and supporting their team.
Shame on you BBC for your pediculous scheduling. Utter morons.
