Could Vela Return To Arsenal?

When Carlos Vela left Arsenal in 2011 it was with mixed feelings from the Emirates crowd he played for before. Vela often got the Arsenal faithful pumping with scintillating skills and sublime chipped finishes but as most of his best stuff came when Arsenal were already comfortable winners and after not impressing during loan moves to Spainish clubs and West Brom he started to earn the tag of deadwood.

The mixed feelings were ones of regret as a clearly talented player wasn't going to make it but also one of relief as Arsenal had managed to move on an underperforming playing for a reasonable fee with an equally as reasonable buy-back clause should he turn it around.

Mostly playing as a right-sided midfielder this season, Carlos has performed admirably for Real Sociedad and is attracting outside interest. According to Vela, there is a good chance he could move on this summer and he would be open to a return to Arsenal.

One possibility is my clause of €30million, but there's other options and we're looking at that, to see what we can and can't do

Vela on Radio Marca.

Close to £25m for a player who failed to live up to expectations at Arsenal isn't exactly what the Arsenal supporters would like to see spent but according to Vela, the buy-back clause for Arsenal is extremely favourable.

Arsenal can come back for me at €4million at any time, which is €1million more than Real Sociedad paid. I look at things differently these days and I won't close the door on Arsenal, or any team in England. I think I'm better prepared to play in another country now.

Vela has improved as a player since moving to La Liga, scoring 45 goals in all competitions 120 appearances and his new found versatility would be beneficial to an Arsenal side lacking in pace on the left and upfront. His value will only increase should he continue on his current path so a bet on him joining a top European club could be the way to go and you can learn how to bet on sports here. At such a bargain price the smart money would be on Arsenal having a second bite should rivals look to make a move.

Carlos Vela

It needs to be taken into consideration that his improvement may be down to him being in a better league for his style, physiologically speaking. La Liga is a very entertaining league but it is also a much physically weaker league than the Premier League and a little less competitive as well.

When Carlos first mentioned a return to Arsenal in October there were very few rumours about Arsenal putting forth a bid but that has certainly picked up. Vela says he has matured in Spain and would be ready for the challenge of another league once again.

Maybe a double swoop for him and Griezmann with the idea of playing either Carlos or Theo as a second striker?

If he can finally get to grips with the physicality of the Premier League then he could become the asset for Arsenal we once hoped he would be. And even if he doesn't quite cut it he has proven himself enough in Spain for Arsenal to be able to get a very decent profit if they moved him on again. At €4m he is a risk worth taking.
